Lancashire Police looking for New Equine Recruits – Do you know a Horse that would be suitable for this important role
Do you or someone you know have a horse that is destined to go on to greater things and are they ambitious enough to join the police force?
Well, Lancashire Mounted Police are on the hunt for new horses to join the beat.
Your horse could be the next equine on the beat.
If you have an aspiring horse that has a career ambition beyond jogging round the field, this could be the perfect fit.
Lancashire Constabulary are looking for horses to join their team or anyone who could lend their horse to help with training.
But, your equine friend will need to meet a number of criteria in order to progress to greater things in life.
What police are looking for:
- A minimum height of 16.2hh
- Larger breeds considered, geldings or mares
- Good temperament is a must – they’ll be put through their paces!
- Aged between 5-10 years
- Good in traffic, established in all three paces and able to ideally jump a small fence
A spokesperson for the force said: “We’re also looking to loan horses who will train new recruits on a 16 week riding course, which will include flat work and jumping, increasing in intensity as riders progress. These horses must be weight bearing and athletic enough to keep up with the demands of our training school.
“Think your horse is ready to fulfil an extraordinary destiny?
“Then email us at LancsMountedBranch@lancashire.police.uk with a bit more about why you think they’d be suited to join our family, along with two videos of them being lunged on hard & soft ground and being trotted up from the front and the rear.”
