Leicestershire Police Mounted Volunteers Provide Equine Training to Officers and Fire Service

As part of #opgallop throughout this week our fabulous team of mounted volunteers have been delivering horse handling sessions across the Leicestershire Police area.

This has provided an excellent opportunity for our frontline response colleagues to get up close and personal with our four legged friends in a safe and controlled environment away from the stresses and pressures of a live incident.

They have all been given an insight to the psychology of horses, the safe way to approach, how to put on and remove a headcollar, leading horses, general horse handling and had the opportunity to ask lots of questions.

Disappointingly for them Coalville Fire and Rescue Service received a callout prior to attending however it was great to have Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service Market Harborough Station join us today!

Massive thanks to Tully, Flo, Bertie, Dakota and Solo (who is 28 today!!) for being kind to our colleagues, allowing some to overcome their fears and being the all round stars of the show!
