Mounted Volunteer visits School with Rural Crime Team
On Tuesday 7th May one of the Mounted volunteers with Cumbria Police, Heather with her horse Marchie visited Great Asby Primary School along with the forces Rural Crime Team.
This was a chance for the children to talk about what they think rural crime is and to talk about the work the team, mounted and rural volunteers carry out. The children were very knowledgeable leading to some interesting points to talk about, including trailer theft and protecting nesting birds particularly in the spring.
This was also an opportunity to discuss road safety, looking at the high viz and safety equipment worn by both Heather and Marchie.
The mounted volunteers in Cumbria Police assist with education and engagement, as well as supporting operations and patrolling areas that can’t easily be accessed by vehicles.
