British Horse Society National Awards Include Good Work by Police Forces Around the UK
PC Sarah Harward, PC Emily Thomas, and Lesley Broadhurst were presented with a Sefton Award by Captain Charles Carr-Smith.
Each of these individuals have made invaluable contributions to equestrian safety.
From Sarah’s ground breaking Operation Arabis initiative with South Wales Police, to Emily’s dedicated road safety outreach in Wiltshire, and Lesley’s 38 years of volunteer work promoting safer roads and raising awareness, they have each shown outstanding dedication.
BHS Vice Patron HRH The Princess Royal attended the annual awards ceremony at Newbury along with BHS President Martin Clunes and Ambassador Lizzie Greenwood-Hughes, as they recognised award winners for their outstanding contribution to the equestrian industry, leading the way as shining examples of humanity, endurance and hard work across safety, education, access and welfare.
Amongst the award winners was Carol Cotterill, who works with the Warwickshire Police Rural Crime Team and Warwickshire Horse Watch.
Carol was acknowledged in the Unsung Hero Award category, which is given to individuals, groups or organisations that have gone above and beyond to contribute to their local equestrian community.
