Operation Loose Blinkers Effective in Scotland

Operation ‘Lose the Blinkers’ was back out recently around the area of Dullatur in North Lanarkshire.

5 drivers were stopped and educated in relation to passing horses slowly and maintaining a good distance

9 drivers were commended on their driving around the horses.

This is a great initiative by Police Scotland Mounted Unit and Road Policing Unit working in partnership with BHS Scotland.

This operation relies strongly on horse incidents being recorded on the BHS Horse i app – this action day was a direct result of incidents being recorded on the horse i app.

In 2026, Lose The Blinkers is supported by Scottish Ministers and Transport Scotland.
